Hi World!

I'M steve,

I’m a professional artist. A painter, to be specific. I was classically trained in college, but like many creatives, my parents discouraged me from following a career in the arts. “You need to get a real job!” They would say, So, I spent the next forty-five years of my life doing what I was “supposed to do.” Ten years ago, I found my love for painting again through unforeseen circumstances. Today my focus is on color and how much I’ve always loved it. My images are all about color and its effect on human emotions. I choose a visually intricate method of exploring color, yet my format is simple – the square. The canvas is divided into a grid; through my painting process, the grid becomes obliterated, giving way to color’s interaction and seduction.

My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.

Inspiration

My paintings are about color - theory, interaction, psychology, and optics; they all play a role. Color is the most powerful of all design elements. I am fascinated by color, how they interact, and their ability to affect the viewer.

Techniques

Sharp-edged bands of color are arranged at various angles and lengths to provide movement to the otherwise static shape of the square canvas. The sides of my canvases are as integral to the piece as the front surface by allowing the bands of color to change direction at the edge, Adding an additional dimension and interest to the work. The edges can also hold secrets that encourage further exploration.
